Following a ground-up (quite literally!) re-build and restoration of a French country house, we'll be going through pretty much every aspect of the renovation of a home on France.

Going Green

Solar Energy has already proved its worth during the early stages of the restoration, using the power of the sun to provide electricity for lighting in the caravan and scalding hot water from an inexpensive home-made solar panel. It has already worked for us in practice, so there is no doubt of the practical applications of alternative energy as far as we are concerned, so for the renovation project we'll be exploring how we plan to use solar energy for electrics and water heating, geothermal / ground source heat for underfloor heating, and rainwater harvesting.
